Raker Restoration Part I

So, yesterday was day one of "Raker Restoration"...otherwise known as cleaning the house from top to bottom. I chose to start in our bathroom and work my way out. Josh chose to start in the computer room. I decided at the beginning that it was crucial to have some sort of entertainment going in the background, or I was sure to fail. So, this begins the segment of the blog where I thank Grace for letting me borrow her Eco-Challenge DVDs. For those of you unfamiliar with adventure racing (or eco-challenges), people team up and traverse very dangerous situations in nature. It's one big race and it could start in the desert and end with you climbing a glacier. It's the predecessor to "Amazing Race" except better because the people participating are doing it to better themselves and prove to themselves they can do it...not win fame and glory. Anyway, there is nothing better to watch when you're cleaning! Everytime you get to a point where you start to think the ring in the tub looks fine, you see these people forging a freezing river against the current and realize you could probably give that tub another scrub. I was able to watch the entire series while cleaning the bathroom, our bedroom, the living room, and the kitchen (I had to switch televisions of course). The next time you have to clean (and I mean dusting, vacuuming, window sills, the whole shebang), put these adventure races on and your motivation will increase ten-fold!
